UNIX ADMINISTRATORS MEETING
November 7, 2006

Introduction
The November Unix Admin meeting was held on Tuesday, November 7th at the Busch Campus Center. New Brunswick Computing Services ran the agenda for the meeting.

Announcements
Ed Humphrey, NBCS
New Brunswick Central Systems will perform an upgrade of their NetApp on 11/16/2006 from 3:00 am to 8:00 am. During the upgrade window, Eden, Mailman, RAMS, Sakai, RULink, and WebCT will NOT be available. RCI and LDAP should not be affected by the downtime. The upgrade is meant to improve performance and reliability.

Tom Grzelak, OIRT
OIRT still has demo systems from HP (dual-core, dual Intel Woodcrest cpu) and Dell (new AMD cpu). They are available until the end of November. If interested, contact oirt@rutgers.edu.

Galen Work discussed the ongoing work for the creation of a Master Lease Agreement for IT resources. Please see the presentation for details.

Beth Binde, IPS
Beth spoke about the renewed scanning program IPS has implemented and its recent findings/impact.

Presentation: NJ Identy Theft Law
Bruce Rights, IPS
The University has adopted a new policy as a result of the NJ Identity Theft Law. Bruce touched on a number of points. See the presentation (pdf format) for the details.

Next Meeting
The next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, December 5th at 1:30 PM in Center Hall, Busch Campus Center. Laboratory for Computer Science Research (LCSR) will run the next meeting.
