Upcoming Events and Announcements

1) Podcasting Comes to Rutgers
On May 23, representatives from Apple will be on campus to discuss the latest in educational podcasting. Rutgers is negotiating an agreement with Apple to become an iTunesU school, which will enable faculty to put podcasts in a secure server for access by only a specific class. For more information, visit http://podcasts.rutgers.edu or send email to ru_podcasts@rutgers.edu.

2) Real Time Collaboration Tools Extravaganza or COLLABORANZA !!
If your department is interested in collaboration tools make sure your department gets involved in this event running from May 8-12 10:00am - 5:00pm EDT (GMT-4). Internet2 Commons (http://commons.internet2.edu/) is hosting this event to showcase many of these products, and make them available to you for FREE. These tools include audio, video, whiteboard, chat, document sharing, etc. at varying costs afterwards. EVO (update to VRVS and free for academic and research use), inSORS (value added version of Access Grid), Marratech (free thru NJEDge.net), Microsoft Conference XP (currently open source), and RADVision's Click to Meet (free thru NJEDge.net) will be freely accessible during the Collaboranza. On these days, all of these vendors will make multiple formal presentations about their products, and they will provide expert help desk services to answer your questions. 3) K-20 Virtual Forums Sponsored by MAGPI (Regional Networking Group)
Virtual forums and User Group meetings for Arts and Humanities (on August 3 & December 7), Healthcare and Medicine (on May 25 & September 7), Social Sciences (on June 1 & October 5), and Math & Physical Sciences (on July 6 & November 9) aim to bridge Higher Education, K12, and Public, Cultural, & Non-Profit entities around issues and opportunities specific to their disciplines. 4) Presentations Available Online
The Cyberinfrastructure Symposium "Information Technology for Research:

5) Highlights of Internet2 Spring Meeting Presentations Online
The Spring 2006 Internet2 Member Meeting was held April 24-26 in Arlington, VA. Numerous talks were held on cyberinfrastructure, identity management, video and much, much more.
