1) Symposium to Address New National Funding Priorities for IT in
Research
Rutgers University will hold a symposium on "Information Technology for
Research: The Impact of National Directions in Cyberinfrastructure" on
Tuesday, April 4th in the Camden, Newark, and Busch campus centers. The
event is sponsored by the Office of the Vice-President for Research and
Graduate and Professional Education, the Office of Information Technology
and Internet2. This symposium will discuss new directions in technology
for research that funding agencies will expect to be reflected in major
research projects. Please visit http://internet2.rutgers.edu/agenda.html

2) Information about Accommodating Students with Disabilities Now
Available
In December 2005, Rutgers' Office of Disability Support Services published
a manual about accommodating students with disabilities. You can find it
at http://disabilityservices.rutgers.edu/docs/studentmanual.pdf. It
includes information about alternative testing arrangements, interpreters,
ADD, note takers, etc.
3) NSF Selects Lead for New Office of Cyberinfrastructure
Dr. Daniel Atkins, University of Michigan - a hotbed for innovative
collaborative environments, has been named to head the National Science
Foundation's new Office of Cyberinfrastructure (OCI). Dr. Atkins'
selection combined with a requested 43% increase in OCI's FY2007 funding
budget emphasizes the importance NSF has placed upon cyberinfrastructure.
News of Dr. Atkins' selection can be found at
http://www.nsf.gov/news/news_summ.jsp?cntn_id=105820&org=NSF&from=news.
4) Cyberinfrastructure Vision Statement Update Released
The National Science Foundation's Office of Cyberinfrastructure has
released the latest draft version of its cyberinfrastructure vision
statement at http://www.nsf.gov/od/oci/ci_v5.pdf. Cyberinfrastructure and
its relation to data, computing and collaboration will have major impact
on the conduct of research. Elements of cyberinfrastructure are contained
within Rutgers' IT Strategic Plan which has been released for
faculty/staff review and comment. Please visit
