Otherwise full support and more announcements will be in place in early 2007. Census Seat access has been renewed. 2) IT Faculty Liaisons Meeting (11/29)
Come and join an open dialogue regarding instructional and research technologies with OIRT. Mark your calendars and please register at: https://oirt.rutgers.edu/registration/rutgers/register.php?id=61129.

3) WebCT decomissioned by September 2007, Sakai an Alternative
As of September, 2007, we will be decommissioning the WebCT Course Management system. It will be replaced by a new system, Sakai. WebCT and Sakai are "course management systems." These systems have a coordinated set of software to help faculty teach courses. They permit faculty to make files available for students, and have tools such as a bulletin board, chat room, assignment management and online testing. Staff will provide assistance in moving data from WebCT to Sakai. We expect automated tools to be available that can translate most content. The content of all current WebCT courses will be available throughout 2007/8, to help in moving the course. However WebCT will not be available for students beyond the summer of 2007. Faculty leaving WebCT may also wish to use eCompanion. Interested faculty should visit http://ecompanion.rutgers.edu for more information. For more information about Sakai at Rutgers, see http://sakai.rutgers.edu.

4) Video Conferencing in Review
OIRT will be providing a review of available video conferencing services and capabilities available to the Rutgers Community. This includes inexpensive desktop video conferencing and better quality room size video conferencing. It will show attendees how to use facilities that allows them to include phone conferencing, arrange for live streaming, improve the quality of the presentation, schedule large meetings, compare commonly used video conferencing to High Definition, and more. If your department has specific video conferencing training needs, please let us know.

5) IT Training Opportunities for your Graduate Students and Staff
