COURSE MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS
Course management systems, like Blackboard, eCompanion/eCourse, Sakai, and WebCT provide an online space for faculty and students to interact using chat tools, discussion boards, assignment submission, and many other features.
At Rutgers, Blackboard is the primary course management system used on the Newark campus; eCompanion is used throughout the university; eCourse is used for all completely online courses,; and WebCT is the primary course management system used on the Camden and New Brunswick/Piscataway campuses.
With many courses and numerous students using course management systems, the teaching and learning experiences for faculty and students have been and continue to be improved at Rutgers.
Survey results from participants in the Sakai pilot are available here.
OIRT also conducted a survey of faculty in Camden and New Brunswick/Piscataway who are using any course management survey. The results are available here.
