HPC CLUSTERS IN USE
The largest use of HPC technologies at the university has been through the development of over 35 departmental clusters. These clusters are typically comprised of commodity PCs (low cost) organized in a Beowulf-style HPC cluster. These clusters operate in serial (batch) and/or parallel modes. Generally, these are not centrally available resources, but developed to support group/department level research.
Below is a table of clusters currently in operation at the university (data is from 2005). This demonstrates the composition and use of HPC clusters at Rutgers.
