Software Collection Development — University Site Licenses

Building Towards a University-wide Site-licensed Software Collection for the Rutgers Community

The software collection development process uses the IT_faculty_liaisons and Academic_IT mail lists as a means to reach out to the community and a way to receive feedback. In addition, both groups and all IT support staff receive a monthly IT digest that includes updates regarding existing site licenses. And now, all software updates are posted to the Software Blog.

In an effort to expand access to and use of site licensed software,  this software is made available in the public labs on all campuses and to the extent possible under the site license agreements the software is made available on the applications server called Apps.rutgers.edu (Apps). The Apps service is available to the university community and can be accessed via a browser from on or off campus. For more info regarding Apps, refer to the start up documentation. And starting in the fall 2013 semester, Apps will provide an HPC node that will provide access for HPC instruction and development.
