Matlab
The Office of Vice President of Research and Economic Development in conjunction with the Office of Information Technology is pleased to announce that Rutgers has renewed a one year site license agreement with MathWorks for Matlab, Simulink, and 51 toolboxes (list below). We believe site licenses such as this are important initial steps towards establishing a University-wide Site-licensed Software Collection for the Rutgers Community. This site license provides for downloads and use on all Rutgers owned machines as well as machines owned by faculty and staff.
Software Highlights
MATLAB provides a flexible environment for teaching and research in a wide range of applications, including signal processing and communications, image processing, math and optimization, statistics and data analysis, control systems, hardware data acquisition, computational finance, and computational biology.
Software available to Faculty and Staff
To download the software, visit http://software.rutgers.edu, login with your NetID, and then search for Matlab using the search box in the upper right of the page.
Student access to Matlab
Students can access Matlab in the on campus public labs. And now students (as well as faculty and staff) can point their browser at http://apps.rutgers.edu/ from their personal computer whether they’re coming from anywhere on campus (including RUWireless) or from high speed network connections at home.

It should be noted that the document on the startup page outlines the steps for service activation as well as logging in including trusting the self-signed certificate, enabling Java, and mobile access. Building a User Community
In response to faculty requests, a mail list has been created to foster the Matlab User Community at Rutgers. To join, one can subscribe by logging in here. Postings are made to this site to note when new versions are made available via the software portal, to survey the Matlab community for training topics, to advertise Matlab training sessions, to notify users when Matlab has been renewed and passcodes are available at the Software portal, as well as to provide updates on installation and reactivation.
Support
Of special note, the activation codes, for all versions since 2008a, are the same as used to install the current version.

MATLAB includes an extensive built-in help system. In addition, one can view Matlab documentation and search the technical support solutions database at The MathWorks Web site at http://www.mathworks.com/support. where one can find answers to hundreds of commonly asked questions. Also, one can find an index of MATLAB examples, recorded webinars, Tech Notes, How-To Guides, a MATLAB Newsgroup, as well as MATLAB and Simulink based books.
