Nvivo
SAS, SCJ, SC&I, SEBS, SSW, CASC, and SMLR in conjunction with the Office of Information Technology have started a site license agreement with QSR International for the Nvivo qualitative analysis software package. We believe site licenses such as this are important steps towards broadening out the kinds of applications and thereby enriching a University-wide Site-licensed Software Collection for the Rutgers Community. This site license provides for downloads and use by all Rutgers faculty, students, and staff.
Software Highlights
“Nvivo is software that supports qualitative and mixed methods research. It lets you collect, organize, and analyze content from interviews, focus group discussions, surveys, audio—and now in Nvivo 10—social media, and web pages.” For more information on Nvivo, visit GSR International.
Software available to Faculty, Students, and Staff
To take advantage of this package, visit Rutgers’s Software page, login with your NetID, and then search for Nvivo. This package runs on Windows only.
Students are able to access the Nvivo software in public labs (New Brunswick/Piscataway Labs, Camden Labs, Newark Labs) and possibly departmental labs.
Building a User Community
Based on the response by other site license communities, a mail list has been created to support the Nvivo User Community at Rutgers. To join, login here. Postings are made to this site to note when new versions are made available via Rutgers’s Software page, to survey the Nvivo community for training topics, to advertise Nvivo training sessions, to notify users when Nvivo has been renewed, and to provide updates on installation as well as reactivation.
