OIRT Sakai Training

OIRT offers yearly workshops in Sakai and other instructional technology tools. Below is the Fall 2009 Sakai workshop schedule. Use the form on the right to register.

Introduction to Sakai

Comprehensive introduction to the Sakai collaborative learning environment for instructional, research, and administrative uses. Participants will learn how to create and manage a site, add site participants, and use some of the more common Sakai tools. Two-hour workshop with an hour of optional time afterward for individualized assistance and hands-on work time. Best for those who have not yet created a Sakai site.

Advanced Sakai

Prerequisite - ability to create and use a Sakai site. Best for those who have used a Sakai site in a course for at least one semester.

In-depth workshop on more advanced Sakai tools and uses. Participants will learn how to use various tools to meet common pedagogical goals. Geared more towards instructional uses of Sakai. Three-hour workshop incorporating hands-on time and group discussion. Specific topics vary according to participant interest, but common tools include Wiki, Tests & Quizzes, Discussion & Private Messages, and Gradebook.

Other Sakai Training

OIRT also offers customized Sakai training for specific needs, including:

  • one-on-one or small group training on the use of Sakai in hybrid or fully online courses
  • one-on-one or small group assistance providing ideas and recommendations for how to transfer teaching strategies from face-to-face to online format
  • private department training with workshops catered to individual department requirements
