HD Video Conferencing – Now 1920×1080 with recording and streaming options

Capabilities for H.323 video conferencing are now extended with new live streaming, recording, as well as VoD viewing afterwards. Use cases include recording video conferenced clsses for review, recording meetings as minutes and content for those unable to attend in person, special webinars, and more. See and learn more by attending the NJEDge VRG meeting on September 27th.

Video conferencing enables regular meetings with instant communications between distant locations typically using Internet2 (and other research networks from around the globe such as GEANT) connectivity and can easily incorporate high-resolution (now up to 1920×1080) presentations to aid discussions. OIRT offers a self service High Definition (up to 1920×1080) Video Conferencing room as long as connectivity testing has been arranged in advance. In addition to this facility, it is possible for a group to borrow an HD (1280×720) video conferencing unit.

Typically, each collaborative team agrees on an approach for video conferencing. OIRT can work with departmental support staff regarding video conferencing protocols like H.323, Google Hangout, Big Blue Button, and other conferencing software.

Video Services

OIRT Video Production Services assists Rutgers University’s Faculty and Staff with the production of rich media content. We offer a wide range of video services in support of the video needs of the Rutgers community.

These video services can be used to assist faculty and staff in “inverting” or “flipping” the classroom. Inverted classrooms take activities, like lectures, that typically occur in a university classroom, and move them online, leaving time for more interactive activities during class time. Students prepare for class by watching or listening to lectures, carrying out online discussions, and taking practice tests. They then enter the classroom more prepared to engage with each other and with the course material in an environment in which faculty are there to assist in the learning process.

OIRT offers many video services to help faculty create and access a wide range of video materials, including:
