Rutgers University

Office of Instructional and Research Technology

Welcome to (or back to) Rutgers!

We at OIRT have many new and exciting offerings to help you use technology in your teaching and learning.

We’re continuing to work with faculty individually to help with course design and technology use. Our instructional designers work with Sakai, Google, and many other technologies to facilitate student engagement with course materials.

Our Practical Pedagogy Series provides tips and hints from faculty about topics like engaging students in online discussions and creating effective audio podcasts. And as always, we provide workshops on the use of a variety of technologies, including Sakai and its many tools.

Our half-day Showcases provide opportunities to learn about hybrid and online learning (October 17), and universal design and assistive technologies (Spring semester). Our full-day Showcase on December 12 will be bigger and better than ever with lectures, demos, hands-on workshops, and roundtable discussions by and for Rutgers faculty.

Be sure to take a look at the Rutgers YouTube site to watch our Inside the Teachers’ Studio interviews and our Faculty and Student Research Spotlights. Don’t hesitate to contact us if you’d like to participate in either of these interesting and informative video series. Our video production and streaming capabilities have increased and our fee-for-service video operation is available to record and stream symposia, conferences, and lectures.

So, again, welcome back. And let us know if there’s anything we can do to help make this year productive and fulfilling for you.
