Charlie Collick, M.B.S.

Manager of Teaching & Learning with Technology

As OIRT’s Manager for Teaching and Learning with Technology, Charlie coordinates the instructional design and educational technology services for the office. A Rutgers Alum (09,15), Charlie joined OIRT as an Instructional Designer in 2010 and has held a wide variety of roles since then. In addition to supporting university faculty and staff, Charlie also works directly deans, chairs, and other school administrators to improve the university’s programs, courses, workshops, and materials through the implementation of education technology and pedagogical best practices. Charlie has a B.A. in Information Technology and a Master of Business and Science in User Experience Design.

Ismael A. Lara

Sr. Instructional Designer

Ismael “Izzy” Lara is a Senior Instructional Designer at OIRT at Rutgers University. He has previously served as an E-Learning Support Specialist at the former University of Medicine and Dentistry of NJ, and also has several years of experience as a Software Engineer. In addition, he has taught courses both online and face-to-face, including “Introduction to Information Technology” and “Object-Oriented Programming.” He is also a certified Peer Reviewer for Quality Matters.

Sr. Instructional Designer

Dena Leshner is a Senior Instructional Designer at OIRT at Rutgers University. She has a BA in English and an MA in Education from Rutgers University, and previously served as a high school English and Special Education teacher. Dena specializes in course development and is passionate about learning and teaching new educational technologies in higher education.

William Pagán

Team Lead – Instructional Technology

Will Pagán is the Team Lead for Educational Technology and manages all technology related trainings, implementation, and support. Previously, Will served as an Instructional Designer within OIRT and has taught Project Management for IT at Rutgers. Will has a Masters of Business and Science degree with a concentration of User Experience Design and is currently an Ed.D candidate with a concentration of Design of Learning Environments.

Jeniffer Obando

Sr. Instructional Designer

Jeniffer Obando is a Senior Instructional Designer at OIRT at Rutgers University. She has a B.Sc. in Biology from the University of Costa Rica where she lived for 10 years. She also obtained her M.Sc. in Educational Technology from Ramapo College of New Jersey. Jeniffer previously worked in education at the K-12 level for over 15 years and has now made the shift to Higher Education here at Rutgers. She is passionate about pedagogy, course development as well as including accessibility measures in every course she touches. She hopes to delve into the realm of Adaptive Learning Systems in the future to improve the student experience.

Laura Transue

Video Production Coordinator

Laura Transue is the production coordinator and producer for OIRT Video Productions. As the primary contact for the team, she manages estimates, scheduling, and all other administrative and business tasks. Laura also performs editing and camera work. She also co-manages the Rutgers YouTube channel, assists with event planning and PR for OIRT, and edits the OIRT blog.

Joshua Gould

Sr. Instructional Designer – Media Specialist

Josh Gould is a Sr. Instructional Designer at the Office of Instructional & Research Technology (OIRT) at Rutgers University, specializing in creating engaging Educational Media. Josh has several years of media creation experience and has previously served as creative director for private media firms in Manhattan, bringing advanced skills in cinematography, post production, motion graphics, and animation to the department. Josh heads OIRT’s media-related training offerings, alongside data management and equipment purchasing consultations.
